Writing. Editing. Content marketing. Social media management. More than 20 years of professionally herding words, in Nashville and New York.

What I do:

I’m a writer, editor, and digital content strategist/manager, and over two decades, that’s meant everything from planning monthly magazines to developing Instagram content strategies. I tell your story — or share the messages you want to share — in the forms and contexts that suit your goals. I ghost write blog posts and website copy to help boost searchability, and I organize and wrangle social-media posting to help elevate your brand and connect with your community. I edit and proofread news pieces, write copy for lookbooks, draft monthly email marketing blasts. I herd the words you need herded, and I truly love to do so.

How I do it:

My aim with every piece of client copy, be it a bio or an Instagram caption, is to communicate in a way that’s razor-close to your voice and aesthetic, just shined up and optimized for effective internetting. I think I work best with companies and clients that lean toward casual and friendly communication, but I’ve shifted to more formal gears for dentists and CPAP machine manufacturers and the occasional property restoration company, and done so happily and confidently. Ultimately, I want to help you sharpen your story, and share it in a way that makes you proud, and makes search engines/potential customers and clients pay attention.

Who I’ve done it for:

From 2011 to 2019, I worked full-time as a freelance content producer and social media manager, with clients ranging from marketing companies to hyperlocal publications, Realtors, record labels and small Nashville businesses. (You can check out some of my clients here.) Prior, I spent seven years on staff at Nashville daily The Tennessean (ending my tenure there as the assistant entertainment editor), and five years on staff at emerging-music publishing/events company CMJ in New York. My writing has appeared in Rolling Stone, SPIN, the Nashville Scene, Billboard, USA Today, Modern Drummer, NYLON, on MTV.com and a host of other outlets.

In 2019, I joined the in-house creative agency at the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum in Nashville, ending my tenure as their director of digital content. Directing online output for that remarkable organization as the pandemic turned their business inside out: one of the biggest challenges and most rewarding experiences of my life.

I’m currently working as the content director for a Nashville-based creative agency, overseeing everything from social media strategy to ad and blog copy for their stable of clients.

I’d love to talk about what you do, and what I do, and how we can do what we do together. Just reach out.
